Wednesday Nov 30, 2011

hi everyone! i've been reaching to folks about being guests on the show. it's really working out. i have gotten a lot of positive responses from folks and so you can look forward to a lot of great shows coming up with all different kinds of people. having said that, i am also thinking about adding some ads... it would help pay for the upkeep and storage space for these large files. what do you think of that? would that bother you?
i have some gigs coming up...
w/ SKYROCKET! - sat. dec. 3rd - hanover's - pflugerville, tx
w/ liars & saints - wed. dec. 7th -hotel vegas - austin, tx
i am honored to have tim palmer as my guest for episode 27. i didn't know tim. i found out that he lived here from his work with blue october and i emailed him on facebook. a "cold call", if you will. i asked if he'd be interested in sitting down and telling me his story and he was very nice and said "yes!". so, we met at "jim's" the breakfast place that my grandparents love. tim told me about how he started out as a guitar player/singer in a punk band then went on to follow his interest in recording and went from "tea boy" to assistant engineer to co-producing kajagoogoo... then going on to work with robert plant, tin machine, pearl jam, u2, ozzy, blue october and even a 2-day stint on the infamous guns & roses album, "chinese democracy"! i had a blast having breakfast and talking to him. i hope we can do it again. i hope you enjoy my conversation with the extremely talented and gracious, tim palmer.
you can find out more about tim palmer at www.timpalmer.com and follow him on twitter @timpalmermixer

Wednesday Nov 23, 2011

hello everyone! i'm leaving to see my family for thanksgiving in a couple of hours. i'm just going through my list of things to do to get me, my girlfriend and our new 13 week old puppy ready to go to houston. i'm curious to see how our puppy, beni, handles the trip. it's going to be brutal if he cries all the way there or always has diarreah on long trips or maybe he'll just sleep and be chilled out all the way there... we'll see. anyway, i hope you all have a very happy thanksgiving what ever you do!
episode 26 features a sweetheart of a guy, paul renna. i had a couple of interviews booked yesterday and both bailed on me. paul had sent an email earlier last week expressing interest in coming on the show. so, i texted him and he came over. so, thank you paul! anyway, paul just released his 3rd solo album, "brothers and sisters". so, we talked about the album, how he got into music, his dallas/austin connection and his journey as a musician and artist. i hope you enjoy our conversation. happy thanksgiving!!!!

my guest for episode 23 is an old friend, billy white. for those of us that live here in austin, billy was an integral part of the scene in the 90's with his bands, 6 is 9 and the billy white trio. billy and i used to spend a lot of time together back then. he even produced an album for a band i had. since then, billy has lived in new york, madrid, san miguel dellande and a few zen communes in new york and new mexico. during that time he has dedicated himself to learning flamenco guitar and has made a gorgeous album that we'll talk about and you'll hear some of. i met billy for lunch at polvo's mexican restaurant here in austin. it's a little loud... but hey, it was lunch time. also, if you're in austin, be sure to go see billy's performance at SANCTUARY at Amala Foundation 1006 South 8th Street, Austin, TX 78704 and if you are inetersted in buying billy's music, click here, blanco.bandcamp.com
