my guest for episode 81 is the incredibly talented, jodee purkeypile. jodee was in a band you might have heard called the alice rose. i have had the good fortune of knowing jodee since he was around 13 and he ran around with my godson who's father owned the club i had a residency at for a lot of the 90's called steamboat. anyway, jodee and i talked about his upbringing in music and around so many musicians, the rise of piGie Hat, transforming into the alice rose, his four-tracking years, solo albums and his kickstarter campaign for his new solo album. it was great to sit down and chat with jodee, it's been a long time. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

Friday Jun 08, 2012

today's episode is brought to you by the law office of charlie roadman. www.roadmanlaw.com
hey guys! i have to get serious for a moment... my dear old friend, jj johnson has had some medical issues that required him to have to spend a couple of days in the hospital. well, like most musicians, he has no health insurance. they've set up a website so that you can donate money directly to jj. here's a link to the site http://helpjj.com/ go to the site. read the story and give what you can. i know times are tough, but if we all pull together, we can help jj get back in action where he belongs!!!! now, let's get down!
my guest for episode 77 is the amazing singer and performer, nakia! i got the idea for this podcast watching nakia sing, "forget you" to cee-lo on the television show, the voice. needless to say, before i even started this podcast, i reached out to nakia. he couldn't do it at the time, but i had the idea and i went on with it. well, it's nearly a year later and nakia is getting ready to make a new album. i really enjoyed my conversation with nakia. we talked about everything and even took some twitter questions from fans. nakia has a pledge music campaign going on his website where you can donate money and pre-buy the album so that he has the funds to finish it and put it out. you can find out all about it and all about nakia at www.nakia.net . i had a great time talking and hanging with nakia! i hope you enjoy our conversation as much as i did.

Friday Jun 01, 2012

hey everyone! it's friday. i'm slowly waking up today. i played a solo show last night at the scoot inn here in austin. i had a great time playing. i feel like i need to spend more time playing my own music. that's my mid-year resolution. it's june 1st. that's the january 1st of the summer. i should be having some people that i ran into at the show last night on the podcast soon. i'm not going to name names yet until they're actually done... i just don't want to jinx myself by speaking too soon. what are you doing this weekend?
my guests for episode 75 are jaylinn davidson and paul waclawsky from the boxing lesson. i talked to paul a little bit on one of the sxsw specials we did, but i saw they were going on a midwest/east coast tour to work their way up to toronto to play a showcase at nxne. do any of you go to that festival? sounds cool. anyway, i was glad that both jaylinn and paul came over because they have great energy together. almost like an old vaudville team that plays kick-ass, rockin', space jams. i really love the boxing lesson and i recommend that you see them while they're on this tour here is the link to their dates http://theboxinglesson.wordpress.com/ i really enjoyed my conversation with them. i hope you do too.
