over-caffeinated and ready for action!
hello everyone! i hope you're doing well. things are good here. just a little behind on my podcasting due to the work i've been putting into episode 100. episode 100 will be a "highlights" episode, it's just that there are soooooo many fucking episodes now, it's been hard to get through them in time. anyway, that's not your problem. i'm playing some solo shows. even one tonight, thursday, august 30th. 219 west on west 6th... if you happen to be in austin, come down. i would love to see you.
my guest for episode 98 is my dear old friend and former bandmate, the amazing kacy crowley. kacy and i were in a band together called, liars & saints. we broke up around 5 months ago. anyway, i've been friends with kacy for around 17 years. she is an amazing songwriter, singer, musician and she is extremely funny. she has a very interesting story about overcoming adversity at a very  young age and following her dreams, getting side-tracked, get her shit together, getting into the big machine and living to tell about it. i loved our conversation. in fact, i'm going to have her on again. have fun!

hello everyone! i hope you're taking summer's denouement in stride. i'm definitely feeling some "end of summer sadness". one way to get rid of the summer blues is to come see me and my friend joseph king play at the volstead lounge this sunday, august 26th. the volstead lounge is located at 1500 e. 6th st in austin texas. the show starts at 9. i'll play a set, joseph will play a set and then we'll play a set together. so come out to the volstead lounge on sunday and celebrate summer's end with the johnny and joseph show!
my guest for episode 97 is my old friend, actor/writer, karl anderson. i hadn't seen karl in a few months, when out of the blue i saw his face pop up in front of me at a gig last week. i was so surprised! karl and i have been friends for almost 18 years and have spent a lot of time talking art, music, books and of course, movies. plus, karl got me into bukowski. i'll never forget that! karl is a working actor here in austin. he's been in a lot of tv shows and movies. he was recently in a movie that got a lot of attention at the festivals over the last year called, "strings". i just saw it and it's amazing. it also stars one of our former guests, billy harvey. anyway, i'm really glad i got to sit down with karl and talk. i hope you enjoy it. i did.

Friday Aug 03, 2012

hey everyone! i hope you're well. i conducted the interview for episode 1 of this podcast ONE YEAR AGO TODAY with my first guest, suzanna choffel. the interview came out on august 10th but i did the interview on the 3rd. so, it's the beginning of our anniversaries. next week, the show is 1 year old and in a few weeks we hit episode 100!!! thank YOU for listening, telling your friends and for all the support. i'm looking forward to more years of great guests and conversations.
my guest for episode 91 is the lovely and extremely cool, sarah rucker. sarah isn't a musician, she works on the side of the industry that we don't normally get to see. she works for texas folklife, a non-profit that helps, supports and exposes traditional art (music, art, dance). hence, keeping those traditions alive. when i met sarah around 8 years ago, she was a volunteer street team member that might not have even been 20 years old. over the last few years, she worked her way into the business and stayed a huge fan and is now a respected member of the music community and i think that's really cool. plus, sarah is a great hang. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.
