Episode 227: Kimmie Rhodes

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. it's cold here. my gig got cancelled for tomorrow because of the weather. that's the third one this month! lame. anyway, i joined a songwriting game and i have a song i need to write and turn in. i'll be playing in a songwriter in the round next thursday, dec. 12th at the one-2-one bar in austin, tx. if you're in town, come out. i know drew smith hosts it, but i have no idea who else is playing. come out. maybe i'll play my new song.

my guest for episode 227 is legendary singer/songwriter, kimmie rhodes! i had never met kimmie, but when i left her house after this, i feel like had made a friend. she is an incredible story teller. i went out to her place a couple of weeks ago and she showed me her studio where she's recorded her last few albums including her latest, "covers". after we got to know each other a bit we went and sat in her office and she told me about growing up in lubbock, making her way to austin, meeting her soul-mate joe gracey, recording with willie & waylon and the boys, not going nashville, working with her son gabe, writing plays, producing films and much, much more. i had a great time hanging out and getting to know kimmie. i think you will too.
