Hello friends! My guest for episode 644 is bass player, Dylan Jones! Dylan is a founding member of world music band, Atash. They have won "Besy World Music Band" at the Austin Music Awards for the last six years. you can find them at Atash.com He's also played with Zoe Vaiccaji, Pilar Andular, Neal Pollack and many, many more! Neal also co-founded anthroposarts.org Anthropos Arts connects at-risk youth with professional musicians, cultivating confidence, integrity, and life skills through musical instruction and mentorship. Dylan and I have a great conversation about discovering music, his first bands, what made him start Anthropos Arts and much, much more! Plus, Ley Line checks in. hello friends! i hope you all had a wonderful passover/easter weekend. i did. i got to spend some quality time with my grand mother and aunts on sunday morning for breakfast and a general hang. i love hanging out with them. i haven't done an "easter thing" for a long time. in fact, i can't remember when. in my culture you get gifts on easter. isn't that weird? i always thought it was weird. not that i wasn't thankful or grateful, i just always thought it was weird. anyway, episode of "drinking/cooking with johnny & aj" is up! this time we have a guest, emmy robbin and we make her mom's famous king ranch casserole! check it out here the link.my guests for episode 367 are 2014/2015 austin chronicle music poll's "musician of the year", gina chavez and mother falcon's nick gregg! gina has a video release party and big show this saturday, april 11th at the stateside theater in austin, tx with special guests, mother falcon, elizabeth mcqueen. riders against the storm are hosting the show. the show benefits the non-profit, ninas arribas college fund. so, we have a great conversation about what it takes to put a show on in a theater, gina's sweep of the awards, how mother falcon makes it work with such a big group and much, much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i sure did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all winning the gold in your lives today. things are going well here. the weather keeps changing every day and now it's emergency cold with schools starting a couple of hours later for the 3rd time in in a month. not to talk about the weather, but man, it's weird when it changes from a high of 34 to a high of 77 to freezing  to sunny and 75 all in one week. weird. i've been busy working on a lot of different things lately. i'll keep you posted.  my guest for episode 246 is the talented and enchanting, gina chavez! gina's new album, UP. ROOTED comes out today, tuesday, february 11th 2014! the album is loaded with all the bad-ass latin jams you would expect from austin's "best latin artist". anyway, i had a great time getting to know gina through this podcast. i never knew about her charitable work, her 8 months in el salvador teaching young girls, nina arriba, a college fund that chavez co-founded for impoverished you women in el salvador. gina and i have a great conversation. we get to know what makes her tick and where all of that beautiful music comes from. i hope you enjoy getting to know gina. i sure did.ciao!

hello people! i hope this episode finds you well. i am doing well. i'm about to go see sheboygan's record release show. i've been looking forward to that for a long time. if you like our theme song, "needle hits the groove", you should check out their album, triple fantasy, available on itunes and vinyl available at cdbaby.com and waterloo records in austin. i've just been at the t-mobile store dealing with my new phone. it finally came in tonight! i've been off of instagram for five days....my guest for episode 213 is grammy award winning producer, adrian quesada! i met adrian a few months ago when i did the elliot smith tribute show. he was in the house band. i knew he was in grupo fantasma and brownout and the he was producing a lot of my friends, david' garza, suzanna choffel and jazz mills to name a few. anyway, he's a great guy, immensely talented and we hit it off at the elliot tribute, i asked him to come by and be on the show and he did. we talked about grupo fantasma, the echocentric, brownout, playing with prince, prince, producing, growing up skate punk in laredo, golden globe parties, gramyy's and much, much more. i hope you enjoy getting to know adrian quesada. i did.ciao! -jg

hello my friends! i hope this episode finds you happy, healthy and fighting the good fight. i'm up early because my smoke detector woke me up doing that "beep every 2 minutes" thing they only do when you're sleeping. anyway, i have to get my car into the shop and do some laundry before i leave town in a couple of hours for some out of town SKYROCKET! gigs this weekend. oh! quick plug... tuesday, september 24th is HAAM day in austin, tx. HAAM provides low-cost health care to austin's uninsured musicians and once a year they have an all day fundraiser you can find out more about it at http://www.myhaam.org/  i'll be playing at 8:30 pm at maria's tacos for the proper nang haam day show. so, if you live in austin, get out and support this great organization. my guest for episode 204 is dj, digger, party starter, dj chorizo funk! i first heard about him from riders against the storm and since then, i've been hearing about him all the time. he just one a critics choice award in the best of austin 2013 and his "body rock atx" and "peligrosa" parties are the most talked about in town. he's best- known for mixing organic styles of music including, afro-latin, afrobeat, new jack swing, funk, soul, hip hop and much much more. i highly recommend checking out his soundcloud page and listening to some of his mixes. they're great! here's a link, https://soundcloud.com/chorizofunk i got a lot a out of our conversation. i don't know too much about dj culture and how it all works, but i really like it and dj chorizo funk is one of the best out there and he answered a lot of my questions. i really enjoyed our conversation. i hope you do to. ciao! -jg

hello my friends! i hope this podcast finds you well and in a good place in your life. i'm doing well. i have full-week of shows this week. three of them are SKYROCKET! shows and one liars & saints show. saturday, i head into the sxsw madness for eight days. this time, i'm not playing at all. i'll just be running around interviewing people for the show. i'll also be interviewing people at the apartment in the mornings. plus, i'll be set up backstage at the austin music awards, interviewing winners and folks that are just hanging out. all week i'll be posting photos to our facebook page or you can follow me on instagram @johnnygoudie. i'm looking forward to sharing the madness with you. stay tuned.
my guest for episode 151 is one of my favorite people/artists and the very first guest on this show, the incredibly talented and gorgeous, suzanna choffel. if you listen to the show, you know suzanna and i are great friends and i have a tremendous amount of respect for her as a musician and as a person. she lives in new york now and she's in town this week playing some shows so i reached out and asked her to come over and catch-up since she's had such a crazy year and a half. we talk about the whole thing, from moving to new york, getting on the tv show, "the voice", her experience on tv and what happened after, touring, preparing for a new album, chap stick, general gossip and we laugh a lot. oh! plus, she came over on her birthday. i love hanging out with suzanna and i think it shows. let's get down!

new year, new stuff.
hello everyone! i'm back from my trip to miami. i had some time to think about my trip and i came to a decision... listen to the show, i explain where i'm at with things like family and where i fit in this family. meanwhile, i'm getting back into the swing of things here. went to practice with SKYROCKET!, we have some new jams in the works. i've been booking some cool interviews for the show and i've been booking some solo shows. 2013 will be a year of great work! are you ready?
my guest for episode 135 is the lovely and talented, scarlett olson. i  ran into scarlett a month ago when i was out seeing tameca jones. we talked about some music stuff and i looked up her last album when i got home. well, i loved it! her last album has such a fresh, electronica/latin feel to it while having very personal/confessional lyrics. so, a couple of weeks ago scarlett came by and we talked about growing up in san antonio, going to college in mexico, leaving college to play, record and tour with a "rock en espanol" band, then eventually moving to austin, playing in different bands until finding her own voice and making an album and much, much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

it's black friday! stay away from the malls!
hello people! i hope you all had a happy thanksgiving. i'm writing this on wednesday morning before i leave for my thanksgiving. we have a big show for you and i wanted to make sure i got things wrapped up in time to put it out. we have three different guests for you today... first, i talk to our very first guest, suzanna choffel about her experience on television's, "the voice", hurricane sandy and how nora jones will not replace me as her friend. second, the band, residual kid pays me a visit. they're a band made up of two 12 year olds and a 14 year old... and they totally rock! i love their music and they are totally funny and cute. finally, i sit down with brian purington from the band, my education and he tells me about the band who is just about to release their 8th album!!! i hope you enjoy these conversations. i did. also, i hope you're having a great thanksgiving holiday!
