Her latest single, "Take Me", a collaboration with Donatachi came out last August and has tens of thousands of downloads already. Hello friends! Hurricane Harvey has really laid some destruction on our fair state. Over 38,000 people are in shelters and the time to help is now. This page on texasmonthly.com shows you the many ways you can help those in need. Speaking of which, my friend, Louie Carr stopped by after his first trip to Houston. Louie and his partners at BMUSED Imaging bought a boat, grabbed an R.V. and headed to Houston to rescue people from their flooded streets and homes. It's an extremely intense scenme down there as Louie tells us. Also, he let's us know what the most needed spplies are. Louie is a real hero among many others who have come to the aid of these people in need.

Finlay's latest single, "Tides" released in March, has been played over 129,000 on Spotify alone. "Tides" is is only her second single. Her first single, "Always There" was released in November. you can find music, videos and more at finlaymusic.com So in the last 9 Months, Finlay has released 2 singles, gotten over 140,000 plays on both combined on Spotify, secured major management, was picked as one of NPR's "100 Artists To Watch at SXSW 2017", she was Austin Music Foundation's Artist of the Month for July and a lot more. You might be asking yourself, "How does she do it?". Well, Finlay and I have a great conversation about growing up in Houston, learning piano at a young age, going to college in L.A., surviving a deadly shark attack in 2012, returning to the ocean and comitting her life to music, making music with her husband and much, much more! Hello friends! I hope you're all doing well. I'm recovering from a pretty fun Sunday. I went to the Reckless Kelly Sunset Motel listening party at Arlyn Studios here in Austin yesterday. The album is great. The party was awesome. Lots of old friends and new friends all celebrating one of our own and their new album. It reminds me how lucky I am to be a part of this scene. Sunset Motel comes out this Friday, September 23rd. You'll be hearing from them on this show very soon.

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i'm good. i have the weekend off from skyrocket this weekend. my girlfriend, zuri and i are gonna go to a cook out and doing some weekend things. maybe we'll go see the new ghostbusters... my pal, giulia millanta stops by for a quick chat abut her new kicktstarter campaign to fund her new album, moonbeam parade which comes out september 9th. she'll be previewing her album this sunday, july 17th at strange brew lounge side at 6 pm. you can go to giulia's kickstarter page to see what it's all about.
my guest for episode 506 is the incredibly talented piano/vibes/synth playing singer, laura scarborough. you might know laura as the vibes player in the ultra-flamboyant psychedelic band, the golden dawn arkestra. i had the chance to see them a few weeks ago at a black fret event and they're amazing, like nothing you've ever seen before. laura also plays with kat edmonson, suzanna choffel, bob schnieder's moonight orchestra and many, many more. she covered john lennon's love on the friends of sims album that came out earlier this year and is releasing a solo album later this year. you can find her at laurascarborough.com i hope you enjoy my conversation with laura. i sure did. let's get down!

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i'm good. very tired. i played last night with my band, ladyband johnson at the townend here in austin. we had a great time. i wish we could have played longer. heading out to houston today to play some private events with skyrocket. looking forward to that. also, we'll be staying in my favorite hotel, so that's always a plus. i'm not sure you keep up with the cooking webseries i have with my old pal, aj vallejo, called, "cooking/drinking with johnny and aj". we made a crazy bloody mary last week with "bloody revolution" bloody mary mix and tito's vodka. well, both companies saw it and we have cases of both now. thanks to bloody revolution and tito's vodka! check out our show here .
my guest for episode 479 is producer/dj/beat maker/label owner, eric dingus. eric was on the show 3 years ago when he was 17 and making beats in his room for rappers. well, since then he's created a label called, dream sequence records, produced a song for drake, toured europe, the u.s. and canada dj-ing and much, much more. i had a great time catching up with this thoughtful, humble and extremely talented artist who is bringing a new sound to hip hop and electronic music. i hope you enjoy getting to know eric dingus again. i sure did. let's get down!

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well and getting ready for the weekend. i have a big show for you guys today. first up, i have a skype conversation with houston press writer, kristy loye! kristy wrote an article for the houston press.com called, "rock and roll is dead, and even axl and slash can't save it". that really hit a nerve with people both with it and against it. go read it for yourself here . i reached out to kristy because i thought she touched on some important issues facing all musicians, how to make a living in an age where support for musicians (and artists in general) is becoming more scarce by the day. great conversation!!!on a completely different note, i also talk to french-pop artist, lou rebecca. lou is playing a show tonight, fri. 1/8 at the vulcan gas company in austin, tx. she moved here 6 months ago from paris, where she grew up the daughter of a pop singer mother and record producing father. she has an ep ready for release but has to figure out her deal with her french publishing company, sony. lou and her husband, daniel, a great photographer and director, came by last week and we had a great conversation. i hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as i did. let's get down!ciao! jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. maybe you're celebrating john lennon's birthday. i'll be on 89.9 kutx in austin today at 2:30 along with stephen doster's band and a lot of other folks singing john's songs. tune in. turn on. and freak out! if you're not in austin, tune in to kutx.org to listen. hey gang! if you're in houston, tonight friday, 10/9, come out to the continental club and party with skyrocket. we go on at 10 pm. on that same note, if you're in pflugerville, skyrocket will be at hanover's tomorrow saturday, 10/10 we go on at 10 there too. we have three shows coming out next week, so look for shows on monday, wednesday and friday. my guests for episode 422 are returning for the fifth time. they're one of my favorite bands. they're one of the most energetic, creative and fun bands around. they're sphynx!!!! the guys stop by and talk to me about unicorn sex, the highs and lows of the last year of their lives, their new album, live from earth, touring, their dead van, the magic of french pop, their upcoming cmj showcase and much, much more! these guys have been through a lot over the last year/ they're weary but still going strong. they're beautiful people with a very strong musical and brotherly bond that i love being around and so will you. let's get down!ciao! -jg
