Hello friends! Jaimee Harris stopped by yesterday to do the intro today's show with me and talk about some shows she has this week, but we were having so much fun, we didn't stop and made it episode 639! One of Austin's greatest musicians, Barry "Frosty" Smith passed away on Wednesday. He was 71. His vast and impressive list of credits includes Funkadelic, Lee Michaels, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimmie Vaughan, Soulhat, Papa Mali, Delbert Mclinton and many, many more. I was lucky to get see him play so many times over the years and it was always an inspiring experience. The last time I saw him was around three years ago at the Continental Club Gallery where he was playing with Mike Flanigin.  That night, I saw the master at work and then got to exchange a few words after. Rest in peace Frosty. Thank you for the groove. We'll miss you.
My guest for episode 583 is the amazingly talented guitar legend, Redd Volkaert! You might know Redd from his work with Brad Paisley, George Jones, Tim Mcgraw, Dolly Parton, his years with Merle Haggard and many, many more. He's put out several albums and instructional videos. If you live in Austin, you can see him every Saturday at 3:30 pm at The Continental Club and every Sunday at 7:00 pm with his band, Haybale at The Continental Club as well. Redd and I have a great conversation about growing up in Canada, falling in love with the guitar, his years in California, playing with Merle Haggard, what inspires him and much, much more! Hello friends! I hope you all had a great weekend and that things are all going your way. Things are good here. I am still kinda tired from my crazy week/weekend of SKYROCKET! shows. The convention we were playing (check the intro on ep. 579) took a step into the world of the insane on Thursday night when Vanilla Ice showed up for soundcheck and didn't like what he heard. I talk all about it in the intro. By the way, if the intro sounds a little different, it's because i recorded it in my hotel room on Saturday night before my gig. Hope you enjoy it.
Scott Collins and Lexi Cardenas are my guests for episode 580! Their gorgeous new e.p., Let's Start Here comes out this Saturday, April 8th and they're celebrating with an e.p. release show this Saturday at The Blackheart here in Austin. Scott was on a few months ago when he had just opened his studio, Chicken Run Studios andsince then I've run into him and kept in touch. He's a really sweet and cool guy. Daisy O'Connor returns to the show for episode 563! Her gorgeous, new album, Lightchasers comes out this Friday, February 3rd and she's playing a record release show that same night at The Cactus Cafe' here in Austin. Hello friends! I hope this episode finds you happy and healthy. Bonnie Whitmore stopped by yesterday to talk about a benefit she's having this Sunday at C-boys Heart & Soul. The benefit is to raise money to release Chris Porter's album he had just finished making when he died in a car accident this past October in North Carolina. They have a great line-up including Will Johnson (Centromatic, Monsters of Folk), Alejandro Escovedo, The Mastersons and more. Plus, a tribute to Chris and his music performed by his friends including Bonnie and many others. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased in advance at cboys.com.
My guest for episode 548 is talented singer/songwriter, Carson McHone! Carson is a Black Fret nominee this year and will be performingat the Black Fret Ball tomorrow, Saturday, December 10th at The Paramount Theater. You can go to Blackfret.org for more information. Carson and I had a great conversation about growing up in Austin, getting her first gigs at The Hole in the Wall when she was still a young teen, working with Ray Wylie Hubbard, Shinyribs and more, touring with Gary Clark Jr., writing songs, cowboy boots and much, much more. Hello friends! I hope your holiday was a success and that you got to spend time with loved ones. I had a good Thanksgiving. It was a great weekend. I had a blast playing with SKYROCKET! at Fitzgerald's in Houston on Friday. This Friday, we'll be playing at Cedar Street Courtyard here in Austin. This is the best time of year at Cedar Street, cool nights, good friends, the whole thing. I'm recording some this week. I'l let you know how it goes.

Hello friends! I hope you all had a good weekend. I played in San Antonio on Friday and Houston on Saturday. They were good shows, but I had a rough time because my allergies have been so bad. I had a hard time singing both nights. Anyway, I woke up today feeling better than I have in a couple of weeks. Maybe I'm getting a handle on these allergies which is great because I would love to go out and see some music this week. 
Matt The Electrician returns to the show for episode 534! Matt has been releasing a new 7" single featuring two songs per single. Each release is a collaboration with different artists like Dana Falconberry, Little Brave, Wilson Marks Trio and Wood & Wire. I urge you to buy these. They're amazing works of art both visually and musically. find them at mattheelectrician.com He just toured the west coast with Seela and Little Brave and performed at the 15th annual Austin City Limits Festival. If you live in Austin, Matt will be kicking off "Unplugged on the Front Porch" at All Saints Episcopal Church, this Thursday, October 20th. You can find out all about it at frontporchaustin.org. Hello friends! i hope you're all doing well and living the dream. Bonnie Whitmore stopped by last week to talk a little bit about her new album, Fuck With Sad Girls which is officially available everywhere on October 28th. However, if you want to get the album early and you live in Austin, Bonnie and her band will be playing at The Continental Club next Thursday, September 29th at 10 pm and you can buy a copy of Fuck With Sad Girls at the show. Bonnie and i have a quick conversation about the album, the show, The Beatles and more. 
My guest for episode 527 is the amazing soul singer, Alesia Lani! Alesia's latest single, "Love You" is available now where ever you find music online.
