Conrad recently moved back to the U.S. after living in a few countries and finally settling in Cambodia for a while where he recorded a brilliant solo album, Original Machines. Hello friends! Hurricane Harvey has really laid some destruction on our fair state. Over 38,000 people are in shelters and the time to help is now. This page on texasmonthly.com shows you the many ways you can help those in need. Speaking of which, my friend, Louie Carr stopped by after his first trip to Houston. Louie and his partners at BMUSED Imaging bought a boat, grabbed an R.V. and headed to Houston to rescue people from their flooded streets and homes. It's an extremely intense scenme down there as Louie tells us. Also, he let's us know what the most needed spplies are. Louie is a real hero among many others who have come to the aid of these people in need.

You might know Curse from his many musical projects including, PIGFACE, Evil Mothers, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, DJ and solo performances and even his latest project, Amorous. He's also a real art currator, he's published two books of art, he's the co-founder of Mosaic Sound Collective, he's composed and produced music for video games and much, much more. Hello friends! The world's only emo puppet band, Fragile Rock returns to the show for episode 611. Last time we were joined by guitarist, Ryan Hill and back-up singer, Emily Cawood. Hello folks! I hope you're all enjoying you week. I am. I got out to see some music on HAAM day. I ended up at The Townsend seeing The Bluebonnets. It was a great show. I hung out with Mike Flannigin and some of the lovely "HAAMbassadors". HAAM is a great organization. It provides low-cost health care for those in the Austin music business. Hello friends! I hope this episode find you well and and having a successful summer. It's been raining since Saturday here in Austin. My guests for episode 516 are Austin punk/pop band, Free Kittens And Bread! Their brilliant new album, American Miserablist was released recently and they just got off of a tour of the US. Their single, "Brainless" already has over 35,000 plays on spotify. (i accidentally said "35 plays" in the intro, but i meant 35,000. sorry guys.) Chase Spruiell and Mark Hawley came by and we had a great conversation about combining punk music, folk music and power pop to create their sound, meeting in film school at St. Edwards, playing house parties on tour vs. clubs, the genius of Steve Poltz, touring the US and much, much more! hello friends! i hope your week is starting off right. things are good here. i've been working on some paintings today. i am putting one in a show on friday, may 20th at the one-2-one bar called, "the tasteless nudes rock and art show". all proceeds benefit the health alliance for austin musicians. unfortunately, i won't be able to be there because skyrocket is playing a show in houston that night. get out if you can and pick up some art and support haam. speaking of support, kady rain stopped by the other day to talk about her new gofundme campaign they have going to get the money to put out their ep, make some new merch. and make a video. go to kadyrain.com to find out what you can do to help.
my guest for episode 490 is music industry veteran, journalist, podcatser, music fan and author, tom desavia! "under the big black sun: a personal history of l.a. punk" by john doe with tom desavia and friends came out a couple of weeks ago. it is an exceptional depiction of the l.a. punk scene of the late 70's and early 80's told by the people that built it and lived it including tom. tom and i met in he early 90's when i was in mr. rocket baby and he worked for ascap. a few years later when my band, goudie, signed to lars ulrich's vanity label under elektra records, tom was west coast v.p of a&r. we have a great conversation about what it took to get this amazing book together, how tom got in the business, his affiliation with the band X and much, much more. tom is one of my favorite people i've met on my journey through this crazy business. he's a true fan. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i sure did. let's get down!
