Man I like that song that you played at the end … thanks again for turning me on to some new (to me) music. Jess sounds so sweet and laid back but she can defo belt out the tunes. I love these types of interviews man where it is so “stream of consciousness” and you and your guests are laughing throughout. Another great interview J.

Isn’t it funny the way our taste in music changes with age (at least some of us). I remember the BoDeans and thought “Closer to Free” was way too poppy for me. Now listening to the song you played at the end of the podcast and remembering that song, I’m telling myself that they are great songs and I want to learn to play them. Kurt sounded like he was in a good place and happy with what he was doing. I’ve been through a few band break ups, some good some not so and I’m glad he didn’t throw in the towel.

You are definitely back on form with this podcast J and I got the next 3 downloading now … Talk soon

Hey Johnny

To be honest, that one ended kinda on a weird note. As lovely as Lauren sounded, she didn’t really expound on any of the answers to your questions. I’m not saying she did it purposefully, it’s a personality type (i know cause my wife can be like that). It didn’t help both that you didn’t really know her before, and you weren’t feeling well.

I’m not saying it sucked; it just wasn’t as free flowing as other interviews.

Sounds like you’re using some studio recordings of Jeff’s where he’s playing the Plank? (Stuff that’s not on Speed of Sound). Does he have some material out there that I don’t know about, or are these exclusives for your podcast?

Hey J

I have to say, hand on heart, that I would be one of the hypocrites that would slag off DJ’s and dance music, however, when in a club would be giving it socks on the dance floor (btw I dance like a 47 yr old white dude, not pretty but I’m too old to give a shit what others think). I have friends that are DJ’s, but can’t get into the music. That being said, I’d never say that they don’t have talent. What you guys said about putting on the wrong song and clearing the dance floor and sucking the wind out of a party I have seen time and time again, and the ones that don’t do it are the ones who care about their craft. Those are just some of the similarities between playing in a band and DJing, but as long as you have passion for what you’re doing, I support it. I do wish Toddy B all the luck in the world and the next time I’m in Austin and at a dance club, hopefully he will be DJing.

Hey Johnny I forgot to say that I always loved Phil Lynott (Phillo) and to me he seemed like such a cool dude. I told my wife about how Bevis house sat for him and she was blown away. As much as I’ve always loved him, she puts me to shame with her admiration.

I hope you understand when I say that I could sit down with a few beers and joints and talk and listen to Bevis for hours on end. What an amazing story and journey. As much as he shared, I just have this feeling that there is so much more there. He has lived several lives in his lifetime and I feel so privileged to have been able to eaves drop on your intimate conversation. This didn’t feel so much like an interview as it did a podcast version on “inside the (actors) studio”

Man when I listen to someone like Tee Double that is so driven and inspired makes me feel like such a fucking slacker. I can only think of what might have been if I’d heard this interview when I was in my late teens or early 20’s. Terrany is so inspirational and full of confidence. He is such an amazing personality. I think I’d be exhausted if I had to be him for a week or even a day. I really hope that people who are just starting to play or in their first band hear this and learn from Terrany about how it can be done if you put the effort in.

Great interview. I can really hear your interviewing skills develop througout these podcast.

“Let’s get down” …. might take some time to catch on …
