Episode 140: Kevin Gant

"i partied with godley and creme!" hello lovelies! i hope you are all doing well. i am. i played with SKYROCKET! last night at the house of blues in houston for a corporate thing. it was a great time. i love playing there. now, i have the weekend off from playing and i have no idea what to do with myself... i just finished an incredible audiobook called, "i want my mtv" about the first 10 years of mtv as told by over 400 people who were around for it. from artists to mtv & music executives, managers, video directors.  it's really incredible and i highly recommend it. read it or listen to it! my guest for episode 140 is singer/songwriter and now the star of his very own documentary, kevin gant. i first heard kevin over 20 years ago when i moved to austin. i saw him on access tv. i was blown away. i became a fan and later we became friends and played shows together. i have always thought the world about kevin. his demeanor is almost angelic. then,  in the mid 90's, kevin disappeared. then a couple of weeks ago, i saw this documentary by the duplass brothers called, "kevin" and it's about kevin gant. the story was incredible so i asked him to come in and talk to me about what his life has been like. he's been on an incredible journey and i was so glad that he was able to come and talk about leaving the air force to become a musician and his crazy life afterwards. it's very heartwarming, i get emotional and kevin talks to me about his epic life. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did. ciao! -jg
