don't pee in the pool!
hello everyone! we're 10 episodes away from episode 100!!! we're going to have a party for episode 100 here in austin and record it. we'll keep you posted. cousin emily stopped by while i was having an argument on the phone with a stranger, arguing about something nasty he said about me on facebook. i probably shouldn't have given him my number, but the good news is, we made up. also, i tell emily all about the pool party i went to on sunday.
my guest for episode 90 is austin treasure, adoniram lipton from the band slowtrain. i met adoniram around ten years ago and i've always liked him and the band. they're about to go back into the studio and make a new album, so i was glad adoniram could stop by the apartment and chat about where the band is at. check it out. i really had a good time chatting with him. i hope you enjoy it too.

i love rock and roll.
hello friends! have you subscribed to us on itunes? do you "like" our facebook page? well if you haven't or don't, you should!
my guest for episode 88 is the great hunt sales! hunt is a rock and roll treasure. wether he's being the backbone and backbeat of iggy pop's "lust for life", the backbone, backbeat and personality of tin machine (hunt's band with david bowie) or the songwriting & drumming lead singer of his newest band, the hunt sales memorial, he's playing with the kind of passion that moves you. or at least, moves me. my friend bevis (griffin, who's been a guest on this show), texted me saturday about having hunt on the show. i flipped and sad, YES! so, yesterday hunt came over to the apartment and we got to talk. we got to patch-up some weirdness that was lingering between from a record  we worked on over a decade ago and he told me about his journey. from being around his father, soupy's musician friends, playing his first session at 10 years old, todd rundgren at 15, iggy pop and david bowie, working and most of all, staying true to what you do. hunt is an inspiration. he plays from his heart. he always has. check out the videos on our facebook page and you'll see what i mean. this conversation inspired me to no end. thank you, hunt.

do not behave!
hello friends! i've battling shoulder pain the last few days. i have knots in my left shoulder. and every few months it flares up. it sucks, but it seems to be going away a bit. maybe it's just the painkillers. i went to an anniversary show at antone's here in austin the other night. i ran into a lot of old friends, i got to see some great musicians play some great music and i ran into a few people that listen to the show. it's always a pleasure to run into folks that listen to the show. anyway, i talked to david grissom and it looks like we're getting together next week for an interview, so look for that coming soon. he's amazing and he's a great guy, so i'm looking forward to it.
my guest for episode 87 is radio personality on KUT (the austin NPR station) and my pal, laurie gallardo!laurie and i have been friends for quite a few years. when she was the lead singer of the all-girl band, the platforms, we did a lot of shows together. she has been at KUT here in austin for over a decade and has turned us all on to new local bands with her austin music minute and texas music matters segments. her voice and name have become so familiar to anyone who listens to KUT and she is an extremely entertaining sweetheart. we spent some time talking about public radio vs. commercial radio, el paso, roller derby and much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

THUNDER!!!!!! THUNDER!!!!
hello beautiful people! this is a GREAT show!!!!! i had a great weekend.  i played in houston and in oklahoma city. we played wes welker's wedding party in OKC on saturday. he sang with us. i tell the story of our experience on the show. then, after the show i got a message from cy curnin from the fixx. it's extremely surreal and i put it on the show as well. check it out. it's crazy! you can see the pic of wes and i on our facebook page . while you're there, you should push the "like" button.
our guest for episode 86 is the incredibly talented guitar player from dashboard confessional/solo artist, john lefler. i've known john for a long time because his big brother, bill, was the drummer of goudie. anyway, john just released his second solo e.p., "shout fire", which was produced by bill. i was so glad that john was able to stop by and we could have this conversation. we talk about the significance of the song, "sister christian" to his musical upbringing, being in a band with no name, naked shows at the hole in the wall, getting in dashboard confessional and being able to draw wieners no matter what! this is one of my top 5 favorites. i really hope you like it.

today's show has a different intro. i went to visit my cousin emily at her store, filin'. while i was there, we recorded the intro for this show together. some people posted some questions on facebook. we talk about what girls talk about when they're with their friends and boners. i hope you enjoy it. we have fun being silly together.
my guest for episode 85 is brandon kinder from the rocketboys. i got to see the rocketboys the other night. i was blown away by the band and so after the show, i asked brandon to come by and be on the show. he did. he is a really sweet guy. the music is beautiful. i highly recommend seeing them live. it's a totally amazing experience. brandon is a very nice and humble guy. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

hey everyone! i rented a carpet cleaner from the home depot and cleaned my carpets. pretty cool huh? also, last week, i discovered that if i leave my house, life gets exciting. i've seen bands, movies, stand-up comics and friends. who would've thought? anyway, things have been going well. i've been working on songs for my new e.p.. i'm trying to figure out what direction i'm going to take the recordings and who i'm going to record with. i'll keep you posted. how's your summer so far? mine started badly, but it's really looking up.
my guest for episode 84 is josh king from the band, burgess meredith. i met josh when he came over to do this interview. my cousin emily told me about them, i listened to them and fell in love! anyway, i got ahold of josh and invited him over to chat, he accepted and he turned out to be a great hang as well. i had a great time talking to him about his band and music. i'm sorry, but i was hungover for this interview. that's also a part of leaving your house... cocktails. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

another 4th of july has passed and all i have to show for it is a burned out sparkler and a new neurotic obsession with my balls.
hey everyone! i hope you're doing well. i had a conversation at a party last night that left me with the burning question, how long should my balls be? well, i'm concerned. apparently long-balls are a turn-off. do you think there's such a thing as testiplasty? get back to me.
my guest for episode 83 is austin radio personalty b-doe! b-doe is a disc jockey on klbj fm here in austin and a big supporter of live music and musicians. he got his start on the austin music network, got another tv show, which he also co-created, and eventually ended up on the radio. i've always gotten along great with him. he is a sweet guy and as i said, a great supporter and fan of music. i was glad b-doe could come by the apartment and we could talk about how he got here. enjoy it! i did.

my guest for episode 82 is hip-hop artist, phranchyze. i've been trying to hook-up with phranchyze and do this interview for a couple of months and last week it finally happened. he came by and we talked about how he got started rapping, his "battle" prowess, winning tons of battle competitions, making his first record, mix tapes, beats, his collaborations with folks like zeale and gary clark jr. and touring with snoop dogg. i had a great time talking to phranchyze and i love his music. you can keep up with phranchyze at phranchyze.com
