hello friends! i hope this episode of our crazy little podcast finds you happy, healthy and actively making love while you listen to it. i'm doing well. i got to see my pal, paco estrada play last night. he had a record release show last night here in austin. was a great show. the album, bedtime stories is out now. you should go get. plus, i'm on it. i just watched that hbo scientology documentary, "going clear"... what a great movie and a freaky fucking cult. i recommend seeing this documentary.my guest for episode 365 is the talented and entertaining, laura reed! someone on twitter reached out to laura and me and suggested we do a podcast while she was in town for sxsw, so i checked out her music, thought she was great and invited her to be on the show. we had a great conversation about going from south africa to north carolina, making music and writing nashville, touring with george clinton, working with producer, shannon sanders and much, much more. laura is a powerhouse of talent and energy and i really had a great time getting to know her. i'm sure you will too. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i am. life is getting back to normal in my post-sxsw world. i'm heading out to play shows with skyrocket this weekend, getting back to practicing with my band, johnny in the ladies room, putting these podcasts together, exercising and eating. normal stuff. anyway, i've been working on some new songs too. that's been fun and totally frustrating. we'll see what happens with these songs.episode 364 is a double-header with brooklyn dream pop/shoegazers, lazyeyes and nashville indie rockers, bad cop. first up, lazyeyes comes in and we have a great conversation about everything... nu-metal, frosted tips, tacos, making music in the big apple and much, much more. then, nashville's bad cop stops by and we have a great conversation about the nashville rock scene, how the new line-up got together, their many e.p.'s, jeffery drag records and much more. both bands are amazing. i highly suggest buying them or checking them out on spotify. i hoe you enjoy getting to know lazyeyes and bad cop. i sure did. let's get down! ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i'm still in a recovery mode from sxsw 2015. if you were here for it, i hope you're recovering. i had an eventful ending to the conference and now i'm just trying to get back to a normal life. it's surprising how much people are working during sxsw. i mean, i got out for 3 nights of it. otherwise, i just worked. i had so many podcasts to do and i was so tired from playing all week the week before with skyrocket. anyway, the result is a month of shows with bands from all over the world. i had some great conversations. i met some really cool people. if you're new to the show, welcome, enjoy, browse through old episodes on this site. my guests for episode 363 are americana duo, the contenders! singer/songwriter jay nash and drummer/songwriter, josh day, met on tour and pulled their strengths together and started this amazing duo. hey came ove to the aprtment during sxsw and we had a great talk about their journey and how they came together to form the contenders. jay lives in vermont and josh lives in nashville and we talked about how they make that work in this modern era. they have a fantastic new e.p. out called, meet the contenders. you can find out more about them at http://www.wearethecontenders.com/ i hope you enjoy getting to know jay and josh as much as i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i am in the midst of sxsw 2015... i actually went out again yesterday after my interviews. go tot see kendall beard, the cringe, dead love club, partied at the rachel ray house and said hi to cops and the bass player from green day. the podcasts are going well. i've gotten to talk to bands/musicians from all over the world! it's been a real treat. i'm glad i'm doing them here in the apt. the conversations are longer, better and free from distractions. if you're here at sxsw, i want to invite you to an event tomorrow, the merch cat indie showcase at the lucky lounge, sat 3/21/15 at 12:30 pm! there will be bands, d.j.'s and the event will be hosted by ME! here's a link, check it out! https://www.facebook.com/events/770427789699691/my guests for episode 362 are traverse city, michigan's very own, the accidentals! the accidentals are a young three piece that i met here during sxsw 2015. i heard their music a couple of months ago and invited them to do the show during sxsw. well, they came by, they're young (late teens) but total seasoned pros. they've played over 500 shows over the last three years, toured the states, written songs, got picked up by marshall crenshaw's production company, finally put school on hold to tour full time and much, much more. these are some super talented/hardworking musicians. they're also some of the funnest dorks you'll ever meet. i hope you enjoy getting to know the accidentals as much as i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope the world is treating you well. i'm good. i have a frantic week of rehearsals with multiple bands, shows with different bands, podcast stuff, dinner with rockers and more. i'm glad because this weather makes it easy to NOT go outside. to NOT got do stuff. and i've had kind of a cold since saturday. woke up this morning feeling much better and i'm ready to rock. are you?my guests for episode 357 are austin soul/funk institution, extreme heat! after 40 years of playing together, bruce spelman and mike barnes stopped by with a box of memorabilia, a quilt made of shirts from venues they've played, vinyl albums and their memories to tell the story of of their band, extreme heat. i've been seeing them for 30 of those 40 years. i still share the bill with them both, solo and with skyrocket and i still love seeing them play. this is a great story. mike and bruce came by and laid it all out, playing the armadillo, the crazy 80's, touring, taking a break, on stage heart attacks and much, much more. i hope you enjoy getting to know these legendary cats. i sure did. let's get down!ciao! -jg
