Hello and welcome to How Did I Get Here? From The Vault! Today we go back to episode 88 on July 24th 2012 with legendary drummer, Hunt Sales! Below are my original notes from the show.
My guest for episode 88 is the great Hunt Sales! Hunt is a rock and roll treasure. Wether he's being the backbone and backbeat of Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life", the backbone, backbeat and personality of Tin Machine (Hunt's band with David Bowie) or the songwriting & drumming lead singer of his newest band, The Hunt Sales Memorial, he's playing with the kind of passion that moves you. Or at least, moves ME. We got to patch-up some weirdness that was lingering between from a record we worked on over a decade ago and he told me about his journey. From being around his famous father, Soupy's musician friends, playing his first session at 10 years old, Todd Rundgren at 15, Iggy Pop and David Bowie, working and most of all, staying true to what you do. hunt is an inspiration. He plays from his heart. He always has. This conversation inspired me to no end. Thank you, Hunt. Ciao, JG

Hello and welcome to How Did I Get Here? From The Vault! Just like the title says, we'll be digging into our vault from the last 11 years, pulling out an old episode and shining it up for you. Today we go back to episode 4 from August 20, 2011 with legendary drummer, Dony Wynn! Below are my original notes from the show.
In the last four decades Dony Wynn has played drums with Robert Palmer, Dr. John, Brooks & Dunn, Robert Plant and many, many more. He is an extremely inspired and colorful person with a very rich history in this business. I've been friends with Dony for years and i've always wanted to get to sit down and hear just how he got here. Well, I got to! from "growing up" in the extremely fertile New Orleans music scene to moving to Los Angeles with Bobby Kimball (Toto) and getting fired by Larry Graham which lead to a chance meeting with Robert Palmer, the artist with whom he would forge a musical and personal relationship that would last from 1979's "Bad Case Of Loving You" until Robert's untimely death in 2003. We talked for an hour and a half! Find Dony Wynn on Facebook & Instagram
