Hello friends! Hurricane Harvey has really laid some destruction on our fair state. Over 38,000 people are in shelters and the time to help is now. This page on texasmonthly.com shows you the many ways you can help those in need. Speaking of which, my friend, Louie Carr stopped by after his first trip to Houston. Louie and his partners at BMUSED Imaging bought a boat, grabbed an R.V. and headed to Houston to rescue people from their flooded streets and homes. It's an extremely intense scenme down there as Louie tells us. Also, he let's us know what the most needed spplies are. Louie is a real hero among many others who have come to the aid of these people in need.
Industrial rock hero, Curse Mackey is my guest on the show today! You might know Curse from his many musical projects including, PIGFACE, Evil Mothers, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, DJ and solo performances and even his latest project, Amorous. He's also a real art currator, he's published two books of art, he's the co-founder of Mosaic Sound Collective, he's composed and produced music for video games and much, much more. hello friends! i hope you all a fantastic christmas! i did. i spent it with my family in houston doing what we do best, hanging out drinking, dancing, eating and celebrating. good times! what do you do the day after christmas? i'm back home. i get back to work playing with skyrocket tomorrow in san antonio. but what should i do today? well, i'll tell you. i got a $75 gift certificate to whole foods and i'm going to go there and spend it. thank you coni, my ex-stepmom. she's nice. i got some good gifts, had a good time, you'll hear all about it in the intro. i hope you all had a great week. my guest for episode 337 is saxophonist and entrepreneur, greg williams! i've played some shows with greg over the years and i've always loved his playing, he's a total pro and we always have a good hang. anyway, i've been wanting to get him on the show to talk about how he makes it happen. he always has a lot of things going on and stays busy and makes a living. that's not an easy thing to do these days. well, check it out, greg is not scared to work. he's learned music and the business inside and out and is now forging some new professional ground with some ideas that are turning heads. check it out. he's a great talent and a great guy. my friend, greg williams. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends i hope you're all doing well. i hope you're getting prepared for the holidays. i just realized today that i've done nothing about my shopping... i know i'll be buying my christmas gifts at local record stores here in austin. i have a plan. i did it last year and it was pretty cool. i buy music for people that they might not know, but is in their taste range, at local record stores. well, this year, i'm trying to get out to some record stores so that the owners can you what they're known for. today we stop by antone's record store here in austin, tx and talk to musician/co-owner, eve monsees. great chat about the record store that has graced "the drag" since 1987. get out to your local record store and get involved!my guest for episode 333 is the immensely talented singer/songwriter and all-around great hang, bob schneider. this is bob's second appearance on the show. he's started a pledge music campaign for his new album, "king kong" and there's two weeks left for you to give. simply go to bob's pledge music campaign and give. i met bob at an undisclosed location and we talked about everything from our dislike of taylor swift and creed to communicating with just our hearts. yeah. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. keeping warm. enjoying the cold, not fighting it. i'm deep in battle right now... with myself. it's awful. it's like the civil war, i'm the only one losing. i'm quitting smoking. this is day 4. day 4 sucks my ass. ultimately, i'm glad i'm quitting, but it just sucks to go through days where all you're thinking is, "i wanna smoke! don't smoke! I wanna smoke! don't smoke!" all day long. ugh! i'm smoking this blu vapor cig that stephen dorff endorses.... is he cool? anyway, wish me luck. my guests for episode 327 are one of my favorite rock and roll bands around, the bluebonnets!!! the bluebonnets have just released a new album last week, play loud, and it is awesome! it's the kind of album i've been waiting for and lucky for me, my friends made it! they just got back from an east coast tour with jane lee hooker, they've been playing release shows all week and doing press, and they're doing one last instore today (tues. 11/18/14) at waterloo records in austin at 5 pm1 anyway, i love the bluebonnets. i've gotten to play with them. i have a band with kathy and dominique. kathy and i write songs together and we get along fantastically. they're an amazing band and some of my favorite people. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i sure did. let's get down! ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i'm good. i'm up early, about to go running before it gets to 100 degrees. zuri and i had a great time last night. we went to dinner at some old friends' house for dinner. i saw other old friends. it was so fun. it made me realize that people need to have more dinner parties. it's nice to see old friends and it's nice to have a get together outside of a performance place or a bar. i'd like to thank adam and christy for the lovely dinner and amazing hang. if you're in austin tonight, tuesday, july 29th 2014, come out to strange brew. i'll be opening for the great steve poltz tonight instead of the regular residency show. come out! steve is amazing!my guest for episode 295 is photographer, christopher durst! i met chris a couple of months ago at a photo shoot for "music and mutts". i knew his work and seen a bunch of it online and was a fan already, but getting to know him has been a real pleasure. he's a class act. he's shot everyone from willie nelson to jane's addiction, traveled the world with bands and shot festivals around the world. his experience has been genuinely exciting because he's a real artist and he gets into the heart and soul of his subjects and brings that out in the some of the most beautiful visuals i've seen in a long time. the guy is a true talent. today he's launching a new company, music imagery inc.! it's a revolutionary business model set up to help musicians get the best images without having to pay out of pocket. find out more at christopherdurst.com i had a great time getting to know christopher. i'm sure you will too. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i am writing you, appropriately, with my dogs laying their heads on my lap. it's an amazing feeling. i don't live with my dogs anymore, but i share custody with their mom since we broke up and when she goes out of town, i stay with them and we have a blast. anyway, they're big dogs and they're rescues. they've brought their mom and me more joy than you can imagine. on the show today, i have a quick conversation with dr. ellen jefferson form austin pets alive!. i was asked to be in their "music and mutts" campaign and after i did the photo shoot, dr. jefferson asked me if i would want a tour of the facility. i did. i was touched and amazed by the hard work put in by all of the staff and volunteers and what they were able to pull off being funded by the community. i invited dr. jefferson over to explain what austin pets alive! does and what we, as a community can do to keep austin a "no-kill" city and what you can do to make your city a "no kill" city. check it out. go to austinpetsalive.org to find out how YOU can get involved.my guest for episode 290 is singer/songwriter, jess klein! jess was on the show a couple of years ago when she released, behind a veil. well, she's just released her toughest album to date, learning faith. the album was inspired by klein's relentless quest for spritual truth. the album's sound and subject matter are her toughest to date. jess stopped by and we talked about the album, being inspired by protesting along side wendy davis last summer, romance, touring, staying inspired and much, much more. she's out on tour of the southeast right now! check out jessklein.com to get the record and to find out when she's coming to a town near you! jess and i always have entertaining conversations. i hope you enjoy it as much as i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg
