Episode 623: Curse Mackey / Louie Carr Stops By Between Rescue Trips To Houston

Hello friends! Hurricane Harvey has really laid some destruction on our fair state. Over 38,000 people are in shelters and the time to help is now. This page on texasmonthly.com shows you the many ways you can help those in need. Speaking of which, my friend, Louie Carr stopped by after his first trip to Houston. Louie and his partners at BMUSED Imaging bought a boat, grabbed an R.V. and headed to Houston to rescue people from their flooded streets and homes. It's an extremely intense scenme down there as Louie tells us. Also, he let's us know what the most needed spplies are. Louie is a real hero among many others who have come to the aid of these people in need.

Hello friends! My guest for episode 614 is keyboard player, producer, songwriter and studio owner, Michael Ramos! Michael has most recently been touring with country artist, Pat Green but he's about to hit the road playing with Shawn Colvin on her tour celebrating 20 years of her album, "A Few Small Repairs". He's also been in his studio, Brown Recluse Studio, producing artists like Jackie Venson and Gina Chavez. Michael has been playing keyboards and on the road since he was a kid and has toured with artists like John Mellencamp, BoDeans, The Rembrants, Charlie Sexton and countless others. He's also produced albums for artists like, Gina Chavez, Nakia, Patty Griffin and many others. His band, Charanga Cakewalk had a great run as well. I've known Michael since I was 15 and have always looked up to him as a musician and great person and we have a fantastic conversation about his illustrious career. I hope you enjoy it. I sure did. We played a private show last night here in Austin, we're playing tonight, Friday, June 23rd at Fitzgerald's in Houston and we're back at Cedar Street Courtyard in Austin on Saturday. I got to be a guest bartender with my pal, AJ Vallejo on Tuesday for HAAM (The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians) at Sophia's here in Austin. It was a great time for a great cause. Episode 594: Donut Musik

Hello friends! It's been a tough week for this music community. We lost two pillars on Sunday... The great Jimmy LaFave and the amazing George Reiff. My thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones at this time. I know this music community is reeling from two powerful losses, but remember that these beautiful souls and their music will live on within us forever. They'll be missed.

Hello friends! I hope you all had a good weekend doing weekend things and what not. I played all weekend. I played with SKYROCKET! on Friday and Saturday nights in Dripping Springs and San Antonio. Then Sunday i played at The Pecan Street Festival with my new band. It was a great time, but I hurt my back during the show. I'm on the mend.
