Episode 69: Ume - Lauren Larson

today's show is brought to you by hotel vegas 1500 e. 6th st. austin, tx

holy-moly! episode 69!!!!! i am way too mature to make a joke about this. also, it's not a joke. how are you? i just finally heard back about my car... monday. i'm about to go to houston. skyrocket! has a show there tonight (fri. may 11th) at the continental club. i'm looking forward to a long nap on the way down there. i should've had this up this morning but i was running behind and i really wanted to exercise. it makes the long shows easier when i've been running all week. so that's my story. what's yours? like us on facebook. and if you just can't get enough, follow me on twitter @johnnygoudie

my guest today is singer/guitarist, lauren larson from the brilliant band, ume. i had never met lauren when she came over a couple of days ago, but it was such a pleasure talking to her and getting to know her a bit. her humble beginnings at playing in the diy punk scene at 14, meeting the man she would eventually marry and start ume with at 15, more punk bands, graduate school in pennsylvania, austin and the beginnings and exciting journey of ume, teaching kids to rock when not rocking herself. lauren is really cool. i really enjoyed my conversation with her. i hope you do too. ume music

    Hey J

Lauren was totally not what I would have expected. She was so opposite from the “in your face with an agenda rocker chick”. She was so quiet and laid back and sounded adorable. You did a great job with the interview and once again I think it really helps that you are a musician so you have the knowledge to talk technical with your guests as well. I must admit it’s mostly over my head but I still enjoy the passion that artists have when speaking about their craft.

Great job man … you keep doin em and I’ll keep listenin

    “Let’s get down”

Lauren is an inspiration. Your interview was so informative about the lead singer of UME. You asked all the right questions. I will follow this band. I will try to catch their next show.
