My guest for episode 605 is singer/songwriter, filmmaker and founder of The House of Songs, Troy Campbell. The House of Songs started in 2009 as an international collaboration between Austin artists and artists from Denmark. Eight years later, they've expanded to collaborations with 13 countries all over the world and have opened a new House of Songs in a 90 year-old dormitory in the Ozarks. hello friends! i hope you're all getting it back together after the 4th of july weekend of insanity. i had a great weekend. i got to play a lot. i played on thursday at the grand opening of the townsend, a new club in downtown austin. i played some songs by myself then i had today's guest, billy harvey sit in on some songs and i played with the bluebonnets. great time. then friday i played at stubb's with amy edwards and i got to play some songs with the bluebonnets again. look for our new band which we've renamed, ladyband johnson. then sunday, night i played at the william harries graham guitar pull at the continental club gallery with william, noelle hampton and nathan hamilton. great time was had by all. my guest for episode 393 is the amazing billy harvey! billy has a gorgeous new album the comes out this friday, july 10th, called, dear danger. dear danger is my favorite album so far this year. billy is an incredible songwriter that just keeps surprising you with his amazing depth both musically and lyrically. this is billy's third time on the show. on this episode we cover some different topics than before, reading glasses, kickstarter rewards, getting over bullshit as you get older, touring with patty griffin, his new album, what to do with your anger, dear danger and where it came from and much, much more. he's one of the deepest, most talented and funniest people i know and i love him. i hope you enjoy this conversation as much as i did. let's get down! ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. things are kinda crazy here today and i guess they will be for a while... i've entered a songwriting game with my friends where we have to write a song every day until february 25th. i wrote one last night and one and a half today. i also did 3 podcast interviews and went to the grocery store. i've had a lot of caffeine and i think you can hear it in the intro of this show. anyway, i'll be playing at gueros in austin tomorrow, wednesday, 1/28/15 at 6 pm and the bluebonnets play at 7. we'll be in the courtyard and the whole thing will be on the radio. come by, check it out.my guests for episode 347 are funk dance party band, t bird and the breaks! they have a new album that comes out today (1/27/15)!!!! it's called harmonizm and it is fucking awesome! if you like funky soul music that makes you feel good, you should buy this album. when momo's was open, we played a lot of shows together and it warms my heart to see their progress. this album, harmonizm, is the culmination of many years of hard work. it's focused. the songs are amazing and it has an overall great vibe. the guys have release shows this week and they're hitting the road for month going to the midwest and west coast find out where they'll be by going to www.tbirdandthebreaks.com i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends i hope you're all doing well. i hope you're getting prepared for the holidays. i just realized today that i've done nothing about my shopping... i know i'll be buying my christmas gifts at local record stores here in austin. i have a plan. i did it last year and it was pretty cool. i buy music for people that they might not know, but is in their taste range, at local record stores. well, this year, i'm trying to get out to some record stores so that the owners can you what they're known for. today we stop by antone's record store here in austin, tx and talk to musician/co-owner, eve monsees. great chat about the record store that has graced "the drag" since 1987. get out to your local record store and get involved!my guest for episode 333 is the immensely talented singer/songwriter and all-around great hang, bob schneider. this is bob's second appearance on the show. he's started a pledge music campaign for his new album, "king kong" and there's two weeks left for you to give. simply go to bob's pledge music campaign and give. i met bob at an undisclosed location and we talked about everything from our dislike of taylor swift and creed to communicating with just our hearts. yeah. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you all had a great weekend and you'e feeling good about everything. i'm doing well. i played all weekend. i played on friday and saturday with skyrocket and sunday with john bush and his group of awesome musicians including penny jo pullus, john nelson, glenn mcgregor, landis armstrong, brad houser and seth orrell. great times! i love playing at the one-2-one bar. i'm actually playing there this friday september 19th with skyrocket. come out and rock out with us in this sweet south austin club.my guests for episode 309 are two of my favorite funny men and best pals, charlie hodge and lucas molandes! charlie is hosting a big comedy show tonight at cap city. we talk all about it on the show. anyway, i hang out with thee guys a lot and we do podcast stuff together, so this show is more of just funny dudes hanging out and making each other laugh. i think we need this kind of episode every once in a while. this crazy conversations covers online dating, "i am cumin and i need to be loved", grocery stores, johnny's bagging pet peeves, lucas' sister is super-catholic, charlie wants to start a brick and mortar dating place called "cumin space" and much more insanity. i absolutely love these dudes and i love hanging out with them. i hope you love hanging out with us. let's get down!ciao! -jg

our guest for episode 141 is animator/graphic novelist, yehudi mercado! yehudi's 2nd graphic novel, "pantalones, tx", comes out in february. i've read it, it's fantastic. it's funny. he's funny. i just read his amazing first graphic novel, "buffalo speedway" about one phenomenal night in a pizza delivery boy's life. definitely worth the read. our mutual friend, nettie reynolds, hooked us up and i went over to yehudi's house a few weeks ago and he told me his story. so, i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.
