Hello friends! I hope you had a great weekend. This is a big week in Austin music. The new ALL ATX album, Low Down Violet Crown: Austin Rocks the Blues comes out this Thursday, September, 29th and they're celebrating with a big release show at ACL Moody Theater that same day. The album features 17 tracks with the best of Austin artists covering classic blues rock songs. The concert on Thursday features The Doobie Bros., Bob Schneider, Doyle Bramhall ll, Carolyn Wonderland, Jackie Venson, today's guest Walker Lukens and many more. My guest for episode 528 is the amazing Walker Lukens! Walker is featured on the new All ATX album and he'l be playing the show on Thursday at ACL Moody Theater, but he also has a new e.p. coming out next month. Walker's brilliant new e.p., Never Understood, produced by Jim Eno (Spoon), comes out October 14th on Modern Outsider Records. He'll be playing the ACL Festival on October 8th and playing release shows around Texas in October. hello friends! i hope you're all getting your weekend groove on. what ever that means or looks like. things are good here. i saw some music last night. i saw daniel eyes and the vibes then i saw moonpie, julianna sheffield and david' garza! great time. i'm off from skyrocket this weekend. i think i'm just gonna lock myself away and write songs for a couple of days. wish me luck. 
my guests for episode 475 are austin, hip-hop collective, heye minds! they stopped by a few eeks ago to talk about their monthly hip-hop residency called, "sundaze". "sundaze" is put on by solstice live and heye minds. it takes place the last sunday of every month from 10 pm - 2 am at the vulcan gas company on 6th street here in austin. hello friends! i hope you're all getting your love jams together for the big "love day" coming this sunday. what are you doing for valentine's day? i have no idea what i'm doing. zuri and i are going to my aunt christina's birthday party saturday in houston. we'll be coming back that night. maybe we'll go to the iron cactus north for the opening of "soul of a musician series"... the townsend is having a thing with sarah sharp... what are you doing?my guest for episode 463 is hip-hop artist, tank washington! a member of the l.n.s. crew, tank just released his first full-length album, "pain" in january. the record is absolutely brilliant. he lost his father while he was making it and it really informed the record's feel. you can find the album on itunes, spotify, soundcloud and on bandcamp. we have a fantastic conversation about turning loss into productivity and deeper art, being a father, the lns crew, growing up in austin, the current hip-hop scene and much, much more. i hope you enjoy getting to know tank. i sure did. let's get down!ciao! jg

hey everyone! i hope you're doing well. sorry for the unannounced week off. i left town for the weekend a couple of weeks ago and came back feeling totally under the weather and i got behind on skyrocket! stuff then had a bunch of gigs. anyway, i'm back! did you miss me? i missed you. i realized last week how much i need this podcast. how i need to reach out and talk to my peers and talk to you guys. it keeps me sane in a world gone mad. sao, thank you for listening.
you know what else keeps me sane? playing music with my dear friends. tonight, i'll be doing just that! tonight i'll be playing with my dear old friend, einar pedersen and three of my friends who have been guests on this show, todd, wolfson, aj vallejo and dony wynn! if you live in austin, you should come out it's tonight, monday, june 25th at 8pm at monkey nest on burnet rd. it's going to be a great time with old friends sharing music together. come out and get down with us!
my guest for episode 80 is talented multi-instrumentalist/arranger/beatboxer/stage actor/singer/songwriter and now the head honcho of patronism.com, john pointer. i met john over a decade ago when we had the same distributer and our bands at the time played their christmas party. anyway, since then, john and i have written together, performed together and he wrote all of the beautiful string arrangements for my last album, "el payaso". john and i got together for lunch a couple of weeks ago at a loud sports bar and talked about a cappella music, beatboxing, rockstar spernova, becoming a stage actor, starting patronism.com and much, much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.
