First up, honoring that old school Motown sound and working it into something of their very own, The Teskey Brothers are an unexpected revelation from Melbourne, Australia! Drummer Liam Gough joins me for a great conversation about this band's amazing independent rise. Their latest album, the soulful, Half Mile Harvest has made it to #1 on the Australian indie album chart, they've been selling out big venues all over Australia and after SXSW they were heading out to Los Angeles to open for Los Lobos! Hello friends! Martin Aker, Ellen Gruber, Rachel Thompson and Wes Ballew from Austin rock band, Edison Chair are my guests for episode 676! So, Martin was on the show with their drummer, Wes Armstrong back in May of 2013 that was actually recorded at live Saxon Pub. You can check it out here. Martin and Wes have gone through some personnel changes since our chat at Saxon Pub five years ago, they've refined their sound and found a deep focus and they're out there kicking ass and taking names in 2018. I had a great chat with Martin, Ellen and Wes about the changes they've been through since 2013, the teen rock scene in Austin in the late aughts, writing and recording, sleeping 6 in a hotel room, playing weddings and private events to keep the money flowing, the challenges of being a big band and much, much more!
