Hello friends! Hurricane Harvey has really laid some destruction on our fair state. Over 38,000 people are in shelters and the time to help is now. This page on texasmonthly.com shows you the many ways you can help those in need. Speaking of which, my friend, Louie Carr stopped by after his first trip to Houston. Louie and his partners at BMUSED Imaging bought a boat, grabbed an R.V. and headed to Houston to rescue people from their flooded streets and homes. It's an extremely intense scenme down there as Louie tells us. Also, he let's us know what the most needed spplies are. Louie is a real hero among many others who have come to the aid of these people in need.
Industrial rock hero, Curse Mackey is my guest on the show today! You might know Curse from his many musical projects including, PIGFACE, Evil Mothers, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, DJ and solo performances and even his latest project, Amorous. He's also a real art currator, he's published two books of art, he's the co-founder of Mosaic Sound Collective, he's composed and produced music for video games and much, much more. My guest for episode 609 is singer/songwriter, Austin Chronicle writer, non-profit founder, Jefferson Scholar in the prestigeous Plan II program at The University of Texas, William Harries Graham! If you live in Austin and have for the last 14 years, you've probably heard or at least heard of William. Many of us have had the honor of watching the 19 year old grow up in front of us. He's been in the studio with his band and producer Stuart Sullivan recording his latest album St. Claire to be released later this year. William and I have one of my favorite conversations I've had since I started this show. Hola amigos y amigas! Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a weekend jam-packed with travel, gigs and a vodka-soaked, Sunday Funday with my pal, Daisy O'Connor. It was a lot of fun, but terribly exhausting. SKYROCKET! is back at it this week with a private show on Thursday and we'll be back at Fitzgerald's in Houston on Friday, June 23rd and Cedar Street Courtyard in Austin on saturday, June 24th. Come out and party with us!
The amazingly talented Laura Scarborough returns to the show for episode 602. She's just released her first album in 15 years, the gorgeous, Reflection. The album is available on all mediums including vinyl. She's also released a book "Refelction: The Book" that accompanies the album. Hello friends! It's been a tough week for this music community. We lost two pillars on Sunday... The great Jimmy LaFave and the amazing George Reiff. My thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones at this time. I know this music community is reeling from two powerful losses, but remember that these beautiful souls and their music will live on within us forever. They'll be missed.

Hey gang! I hope you've had a good week. Maybe you're getting ready for the weekend. I am. The weekend usually means my work time. I'm traveling this weekend. Sunday is Mother's day. I hope you remembered to get something for your mom or the maternal figure in your life. I am behind on my Mother's day gifts for my aunt and grandmother. I think I'm going to get flowers on Sunday morning on the way. Good idea, right? I'll let you know how it turns out on Tuesday.

Quick promo, I'm playing with my new band on Sunday, May 7th at The 40th Annual Pecan Street Festival here in Austin. We're playing at 1 pm on the Trinity stage. There are a lot of awesome bands playing both days so go to pecanstreetfestival.org for the full line-up and times. Alex Dezen (formerly of The Danmwells) checked in from the road the other day. He just released a new solo album Alex Dezen II and he's on tour supporting it. He'll be in Austin tomorrow, Saturday, May 6th at 3Ten Austin City Limits Live. Hey gang! I hope you all had a great weekend. I did. I played a couple of shows with SKYROCKET!. They were both a lot of fun. I had a hard time sleeping on Saturday night. Like, I fell asleep for like 20 minutes then I was up until 5 a.m. I slept for a bit and woke up for the day. I was pretty out of it on Sunday. I got some stuff done with the podcast and met a friend for lunch. Other than that, I just kinda wandered around kind of out of it and hung out with my dogs a bit. Good weekend.
My guest for episode 588 is the amazing keyboard/vibes/trombone playing, Matt Hubbard! Matt just got done playing some shows with Edlie Brickell and The New Bohemians a couple of weeks ago and he'll be returning to his residency every Wednesday at 9:30 at C-Boys here in Austin, TX tomorrow. You might know matt from his trio or his work with so many artists like, Willie Nelson, Ricky Lee Jones, Golden Dawn Arkestra, his band, 7 Walkers with Papa Mali and Bill Kreutzmann from The Grateful Dead and many, many more. Hello friends! I hope you all had a good weekend. I did. I played, spent time with my aunt and my cousins, hung out with my dogs, watched a few movies and chilled out. I'm spending the week organizing and writing some songs for my new band that still has no name. We rehearsed a few times last week and worked on some songs I've written over the last year and a half or so. Stuff sounds good and we'll be ready for our first gig at Pecan Street Festival on May 7th.
My guests for episode 582 are psychedelic art/funk band, Bourgeois Mystics! their debut album, Eureka! comes out this Friday, April 14th and they're celebrating with a release show at The Parish here in Austin on that same night. They're also hitting the road next week for a 3 week tour of the northeast and southeast United States. Go to bourgeoismystics.com to see if they're coming to a town near you. Zaalo, Zach and Trevor from the band came by last week and we had a great conversation about how they came together, making Eureka!, mixing jazz, prog, funk and rock for a unique sound, abstaining from masturbation to be a better musician and much, much more.
