hello friends! i hope you're doing well. hanging in there while facing summer's last stand. big labor day plans? i'll be playing like crazy. skyrocket played last night at steiner ranch steakhouse, we play tonight at hanover's in pflugerville, tomorrow, house of blues houston then sunday afternoon, i play a solo set back in austin at joe's crab shack for balcony tv. if you'd like to see the solo show on sunday, just come on down to joe's crab shack at 3 pm. the show is free. my friend, jazz mills is gonna join me for a couple of songs. i love her. sunday funday. do it!my guest for episode 304 is director/cinematographer/actor/musician, joe salinas! i met joe a coupe of years ago at a comedy show here in austin and since then, i've seen him around and seen tons of videos he's made posted on facebook and twitter. videos by mineral, zookeeper, alejandro escovedo, jason blum and many more. joe came by earlier this week and we chatted about working his way up the texas prison guard system, being in bands, being in "machete kills", making music, making videos mystical mountain trips with alejandro escovedo and much, much more. i'm glad we got together and got to know each other a little better. i hope you enjoy getting to know joe. i did. let's get down!ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope yore feeling a nice summer weekend coming your way. maybe you'll be going to a bar b que or a pool party or something resembles a little of both. i played in houston last night with SKYROCKET!. we played at this beautiful park downtown called discovery green. it was a lot of fun. my family came and i got to see a bunch of old friends that i haven't seen in a while. plus, it was a gorgeous night. i'm playing outside tonight and tomorrow too. tomorrow is an all day thing, so i might bring back "playing in shorts" like i did in the late 80's. can you wear shorts on stage? can i start wearing a bathing suit to outdoor shows in the summer?my guests for episode 284: live at strange brew 3 are charlie hodge, graham wilkinson and sphynx! this is a GREAT show!!!! we talk about everything, fatherhood, twins and their secret languages, freaky people on tour, paintball karaoke, the scary drug dealer at the nick in birmingham and listen for the impromptu beatbox song at the end. this show was a great time. thank you to the guests, to strange brew and to everyone who came out. we'll book some more soon! let's get down!

hello friends! i hope you're all doing well. i am. i'm up early today doing laundry and running some errands before i leave town for a couple of days of shows with SKYROCKET!. in fact, if you live in houston, we'll be playing at comic-palooza tomorrow, may 24th 2014. it takes place in the george r. brown convention center. check it out. also, we have a line-up for our live podcast on tuesday, june 3rd at strange brew in austin, tx... we have suzanna choffel, trish murphy, elizabeth mcqueen and jazz mills! it starts at 8 pm and you can find out more about it here, come out and be a part of our show! my guest for episode 176 is the one and only, steve poltz! steve is one of the most amazing performers/songwirters i have ever seen. hanging out with gets you fired up to do creative things. we got together last year during sxsw and had an amazing conversation that got a lot of response from you listeners. well, steve and i got together again a couple of days ago and went for a walk around the lake and recorded it! we had a great conversation about losing loved ones, not having kids, what it takes to write a song, what to do after gigs, his new album, the accident, his amazing new song, "folk singer" and much, much more. theres some ambient trail and road noise sometimes, but it's like you're on a walk with steve and i. i hope you enjoy our walk as much as i did.ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope you all had a wonderful passover or record store day or easter or earth day or 4/20 day. a lot of celebrating over the last week. i got some good record store day records... jay-z the black album, ume monuments and a couple of days earlier i got kiss alive and a laura nyro album that i heard about while listening to the paul stanley autobiography. good scores! the record stores were full. i saw my friend eve who owns antone's records at end of an ear records, so there was a spirit of solidarity among the record store owners. what a magical day. did you get anything?my guest for episode 267 is one of my favorite comics and one of my favorite people to talk to, john tole! i met john a couple of years ago after one of the "monkeyshine mondays" shows and we hit it off. so, i had john on the podcast over a year ago but i accidentally deleted it before i could put it out. i've always felt terrible about that. luckily, we made up for it with this conversation. john is an amazing comic, a prolific podcaster, he has 4256 productions where he puts out 4 podcasts, "disrupt the illusion", "after the illusion", "cart path diem" and "take it under advisement". he's always on the road and you can find out when he's coming to your town and what ever else you need to know about john tole at i hope you enjoy our crazy conversation. i sure did. ladies and gentlemen, john tole.ciao! -jg

what's up my friends? i am okay. i have some kind of cold or allergies or something that's fucking up my head. i've taken dayquill, so i'm a little kooky. that stuff makes me feel like i've taken some low-grade acid which s fine with me. i don't have the fortitude or patience to do acid anymore. i've been reaching out to some folks today to be on the show so hopefully in the months to come, i'll bring you some shows that you have been asking for. look out for guest for episode 207 is podcaster/writer/music fan, dana rossi. dana is the producer and host of the new york city based, soundtrack series podcast! it's a great show! i was on it a few months ago when they recorded a live one here in austin. here's a link to the soundtrack series podcast anyway, dana stopped by when she flew in from new york a few weeks ago to record another episode of the soundtrack series and we talked about everything, dating the amish, phili, new york, theater people, acting, singing, what's the right cheese steak place, music, her amazing podcast and much, much more. i had a great time getting to know dana. i'm sure you will too. ciao! -jg

hello my friends! i put this episode out a day early because i'm heading out for town with SKYROCKET! for a couple of days and i don't trust hotel internet service. it's too damn slow. so yes, i'm going to dallas today, thursday, 7/25 and we're playing at the house of blues in dallas tomorrow, friday, 7/26, we're playing at the house of blues in houston. saturday, 7/27, we're playing at the belmont in austin with cotton mather for their single release. busy, busy weekend. don't forget, next wednesday, july 31st, 7:30 pm live podcast at antone's in austin tx! my guests will be members of western youth and the love leighs and christy hays. i'll talk to the bands and then they'll play! i think it will be a great night of fun and music. come out. here's more info...
my guest for episode 191 is one 0f my favorite comics making his second appearance on the show, the very funny, jake flores! jake was on around a year and a half ago and since then, i've seen him perform a bunch and we've become friends. jake is about to record his first stand up album for stand up records (lewis black, doug stanhope, patton oswalt, marc maron) and he's recording here in austin at the new movement theater on sunday, august 4th 2013 with two shows at 7 & 9. if you're here, you should go. anyway, jake came by and we got to catch up about the incredible comedy scene in austin, putting on shows, "what are we doing?", his spite club shows and podcasts, touring, performing every night, cool posters and much, much more! i think jake is a great guy and i always have a great time seeing him perform and hanging out with him. i'm sure you will too.
