Episode 584: Emily Bell Returns Again!

Hello friends! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend or a good Passover or just a great weekend. I had good weekend. I played a couple of shows with SKYROCKET!, went to Waco on easter Sunday and met my aunt and her partner at probably the worst Mexican restaurant in America. I used to eat at the ones in Houston when I was a kid and I loved them, but this one in Waco was "the suck". Anyway, I had a great day with those ladies. We drove around Waco, had some drinks at a pub and caught up. It was a nice Easter.

Episode 578: Raul Midon

Hello friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. I was back at work with SKYROCKET!. We played Friday in San Antonio and Saturday in Austin. They were great shows. This week we're back at it on the private party scene. we're playing 5 shows this week, so that should be interesting. I got to play with some of my new band on Saturday! That was really, really fun. We'll be playing our first show at Pecan Street Festival here in Austin in May. I'll let you know when it's happening.

Episode 577: Happy Meals

Hey gang! I hope the world is treating you like a king or queen right now. Things are good here. I've just been working on some songs for my new band. We have a gig on Sunday, May 7th at Pecan Street festival here in Austin and we're getting into the rehearsal room to start knocking out some songs. I'll let you know how it's going. SKYROCKET! will be playing some shows this weekend... Tonight, Friday, March 24th we'll be at Sam's in San Antonio and tomorrow, Saturday, March 25th we'll be at Cedar Street Courtyard in Austin, TX. My guests for episode 577 are Suzanne Rodden and Lewis Cook from Glasgow's, Happy Meals! This phenomenal dreamy, synth, French-pop duo was in from Scotland for SXSW. They came by and we had a great conversation about their e.p.'s Fruit Juice and Apero, the d.i.y. underground scene in Glasgow, our love for Swtched On, touring Russia, India and Europe, working as couple, our ove of synthsizers and much, much more. 576: The Midnight Stroll - Live from The SXSW Podcast Stage Presented by Tunein!

Hello friends! Austin and everyone in it is currently recovering from SXSW 2017. It was a good week. Sadly, some of my podcasts earlier in the week were cancelled because of all of the flight cancellations from up north due to weather. I still did quite a few. I saw a lot of music. Went on a boat on the most beautiful day of the year and had free drinks and saw bands on Town Lake. I did some running around with friends. I hung out with my stepmom and her friends. Went to Houston Saturday and opened for and played with the BoDeans. That was really fun. So yeah, a good SXSW 2017.

Jonas Wilson and Aaron Behrens from The Midnight Stroll joined me for this special live podcast recording. Episode 569: Billy Harvey Returns Again!

Hello friends! I hope you all had a good weekend. I did. I saw Jane Ellen Bryant play on Friday. She was great. On Saturday I got to be in The Megaphone Show at The New Movement Theater. It's a storytelling/improv show like U.C.B's "Asscat" shows. I highly recommend the show to everyone. the actors are all amazing at what they do. The show is extremely funny and it's something to do that's outside the norm. Do it. It's fun.
The amazingly talented and always entertaining, Billy Harvey returns to the show for episode 569! His brilliant new album Elephants In The Room comes out today, Tuesday, February 21st 2017. Billy stopped by while he was in town playing a show and moving his studio from Los Angeles to start a new chapter of his life in Nashville. Hello friends! I'm a little late putting this out because I went to see Sphynx last night and then went and sang karaoke. I was drunk and terrible which is a great combo right? Hello friends! I hope you're all having a decent Valentine's Day. I have no plans. I don't want to participate in a day that magnifies my relationship short-comings and loneliness. However, it's going to be happening al around me today, so I should just stay in. I DID just hit an all-time low a little while ago, My grandma called to wish me a happy Valentine's Day. Now, I know that's sweet, but there is a level of sadness to knowing that she woke up this morning thinking, "No one is going to wish Johnny a happy Valentine's Day today. I better do it, so that he knows someone loves him". Happy Valentine's Day!

Episode 562: The Traveling Ones

Hello friends! I hope you've all had as little stress this week as possible. If you watch the news or engage in social media, you might have noticed there's an unprecidented level of controversy surrounding this country's new prez. There's a lot of unease among folks worried about their rights. A lot of people turning on each other and attacking one and other on social media. A lot of, "I've been too quiet for too long about this but..." posts on facebook from boths sides of the aisle. Just a quick reminder that you should go out and see music. I did that a few times this week and it totally took me out of that "Oh my God! What's happening now?!?!" state of mind I get in when I'm watching the news or what ever CNN has become. Go out and see live music and it will take out of that head and into the beautiful world of art and creativity.
