hello my lovelies! i hope this episode finds you happy and healthy. i think i'm happy and healthy. i am running out the door to tape an episode of the hodgecast. the hodgecast is a podcast hosted by my friend, charlie hodge. he and his co-host, matt sadler have been guests on this show and i have been on their show many, many times. i'm looking forward to it. i bet it will be up tomorrow. i'm thinking about making t-shirts... would you want a t-shirt? tweet at me. let me know. maybe i should put someone in charge of it. shit! i need an intern. i'm terrible at getting these kinds of things done. then when i get them done, i'm terrible at keeping up with them. let's see what happens.
my guest for episode 163 is stand-up comic and part of the whiskey brothers podcast, rob mungle. i've known rob for a few years. he comes out to the SKYROCKET! shows in houston. we usually talk and hang for a bit. he's a great guy. he's a very funny guy. the whiskey brothers podcast was just at #38 on the itunes comedy podcast chart. that's quite an accomplishment. he came by my hotel when i was in houston a few weeks ago and we sat down and talked about the comedy scene, podcasts and much, much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

Friday Jan 04, 2013

bienvenidos a miami!
hello my people! i hope the new year is working in your favor. i am in miami. i'm here. i'm doing the thing with my family and i think it's going okay. i've gotten to spend some time with my six brothers and sisters, my dad and my stepmoms. all-in-all, people are doing well. i'll be able to give you a full-report on monday. now back to the vacation.
my guest for episode 134 is texas music hall of fame member, paul minor. if you live in austin and play music or go see music, chances are you know paul. he's been a fixture in the music scene since the early 80's. i met paul at some point in 1989 in houston and we've been pals ever since. paul came by the apartment a couple of weeks ago and we talked about everything... living in a religious commune as a kid, moving to austin where he started playing in bands as a kid, touring and recording with beaver nelson, his superego, the rock-and-roll-free-for-all, his solo albums, marfa,  his sound company that provides sound and p.a.'s for a lot of clubs in town and of course, the texas tycoons. paul is a great musician/guy with an interesting story. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.

Episode 112: Ralz Mathias

Tuesday Oct 16, 2012

Tuesday Oct 16, 2012

oh baby, you... got what i need.
friday night i saw little joe washington at the continental club in houston. i can't stop thinking about how amazing he was. i talked to him after his show, i got my picture taken with him and of course, i asked him if he would be on my podcast. apparently, podcast are a completely foreign concept to a 74 year old blues man. anyway, i've been watching some of his videos on youtube and geeking out on him. i know a couple of guys that play with him so hopefully, i'll get him on the show before too long. check out his website http://www.littlejoewashington.com/index.html he's fucking awesome!
my guest for episode 112 is my old friend, soul singer, ralz mathias. i've been friends with ralz since the late 80's when we were both lead singers of funk bands in houston. we talk about those days along with ralz's musical journey. from growing up as an artsy kid in baytown to starting a new-wave band, then going into a funk/rock direction showcasing for labels taking a break from music and and getting back in full-force, releasing his first solo album, liar lover sinner saint . so, ralz came by my hotel room when i was in houston last weekend and we sat down and caught-up. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.
