SKYROCKET! played friday and saturday. both good shows. in the podcast, i talk about a lady who lifted her dress up to impress the band. we were not impressed. sunday, i was invited by former guest and super-cool chick, paula nelson to see her play at willie's 80th birthday. she had a great show and i had a good time... you'll hear all about it on the show today.

hello friends and masterful pole-dancers! happy fat tuesday! i hope you're all doing well and getting ready for valentine's day. i have no valentine.  so, i'm dealing with that. maybe i should do something anti-valentine's, like hang out with a bunch of angry dudes and watch a sport at a tittie bar... or maybe i should pretend to be in love with someone i don't know very well for 24 hours and disappoint them repeatedly for that time period... as you can see, i have a lot of options, so this is going to be a good week for me.

Friday Jan 25, 2013

"i partied with godley and creme!"
hello lovelies! i hope you are all doing well. i am. i played with SKYROCKET! last night at the house of blues in houston for a corporate thing. it was a great time. i love playing there. now, i have the weekend off from playing and i have no idea what to do with myself... i just finished an incredible audiobook called, "i want my mtv" about the first 10 years of mtv as told by over 400 people who were around for it. from artists to mtv & music executives, managers, video directors.  it's really incredible and i highly recommend it. read it or listen to it!
my guest for episode 140 is singer/songwriter and now the star of his very own documentary, kevin gant. i first heard kevin over 20 years ago when i moved to austin. i saw him on access tv. i was blown away. i became a fan and later we became friends and played shows together. i have always thought the world about kevin. his demeanor is almost angelic. then,  in the mid 90's, kevin disappeared. then a couple of weeks ago, i saw this documentary by the duplass brothers called, "kevin" and it's about kevin gant. the story was incredible so i asked him to come in and talk to me about what his life has been like. he's been on an incredible journey and i was so glad that he was able to come and talk about leaving the air force to become a musician and his crazy life afterwards. it's very heartwarming, i get emotional and kevin talks to me about his epic life. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did.
