hello friends! i have some sad news. my hard drive died on friday... it's fixed, but i lost a lot of stuff like music, pictures and things like that. anyway, does anyone know how to get music off of your ipod? if you do, tweet at me. @johnnygoudie. if you live in san antonio, SKYROCKET! will be playing at sam's burger joint THIS friday, november 22nd, 2013. here's a link to the event with times and ticket info https://www.facebook.com/events/1381154922105088/?ref=br_tf oh! my friend, todd gave me 16 vinyl albums for my collection! i got early genesis, the pretenders, wings, supertramp, laurie anderson (which i have fallen in love with) and so many more! i'm pretty excited about this vinyl thing! it's so fun!my guest for episode 122 is singer/songwriter, drew smith. drew is coming off of a hiatus in full-force. he's put his old band, drew smith's lonely choir, back together for some shows including one at the historic paramount theater in austin, tx. he's out doing shows with his new band, all the elements. he's also hosting a weekly songwriter-in-the-round at the one-to-one bar in austin, tx. anyway, i've known drew for almost a decade and i've never really gotten to sit down and have a talk with him. i did last wek and it was great! we talk about momo's, funk bands, joe humel, producing the wheeler bros., taking some time to breathe, social media, he tells a funny story about meeting me and much, much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did. ciao! -jg

hello friends! i hope this episode finds you well. i'm sorry it came out a little late. i've been working like crazy and traveling and trying to nap because i haven't been sleeping too well lately and if i don't sleep, my voice gets funky. and not a good funky. anyway, i played at the haam day event yesterday. i had a great time. i love that i got to see shoulders, american people, grace london and william harries graham. hello my friends! i hope life is treating you well. life seems to be treating me well. i had a good weekend of shows with SKYROCKET!. hey! we'll be playing at the house of blues bronze peacock room in houston on friday, september 27th. tickets are on sale now here's a link http://www.houseofblues.com/tickets/eventdetail.php?eventid=83197 come out and join us for a night of craziness and dancing. my guest from episode 201, chef monica pope was at our show on saturday. things were a little crazy and i didn't get to say hi. next time. i'm craving some of those fried brussel sprouts from sparrow...my guest for episode 203 is the extremely talented, seela! seela and i have known each other for around 20 years. she's been a big part of some scenes here in austin, the chicago house folk scene, the elephant room jazz scene and more. she just put out her 5th solo album, valentine after a 9 year hiatus. the album is great and i was glad she was able to come by the apartment and catch up. we talk about music, having no plan, falling into scenes, singing, jazz, jesus, her sweet husband and much much more. i hope you enjoy our conversation. i did. ciao! -jg

tempurpedic bed covers are fucking rad!
hello my friends! i hope you're in good shape today. i am. i got a wonderful present from the u.p.s. yesterday... a tempurpedic mattress cover pad thing... what are they called?!?! anyway, my ex-stepmom, coni had one on the bed i slept on while i was visiting in miami and i guess i was open about my love for it. so she got me one. let me tell you, they're great! if a whole tempurpedic mattress is out of your price-range, this is just as good. thank you coni! i sleep like a king!
my guest for episode 136 is the amazingly talented and incredibly cool, jazz mills. i've known and been around jazz for the last couple of years, but never really got the chance to sit down and talk. well, we took care of that. jazz came by yesterday and we talked about everything from her humble beginnings in san angelo, tx, her folk-singing mother and artistic father, wanting to be a super hero, moving to austin, playing music, from back-up singer in a funk band to co-founding the band, cowboy & indian and her other musical endeavors, motherhood and her solo album. all the while maintaining a level-head. i found out that i love jazz mills. after this conversation, you will too.

election day!
hello folks! i hope you're well and you're happy with who you voted for. just think, tomorrow we'll wake up and not have to hear about an election for a while... thank god!
my guest for episode 117 is comedian, ryan cownie. i've seen ryan do stand-up around three times an every time he's made me laugh until i cried. i went to charlie hodge's monkeyshine mondays last week and ryan got up and improvised a bit about the first time he was at the show and it just killed! anyway, i was glad ryan came by. we talked about his start in lincoln, nebraska when he was 17 putting on his own shows, working at the funny bone in omaha and moving to austin and becoming part of the up and coming comedy scene here. i hope you enjoy our converstion. i did.

johnny hates kevin costner!
hello everyone! i hope you're well. we have a big show for you today. three different musical projects on one show! my guests for episode 115 are shane lawlor, formerly of electric touch now has a new thing called, ronsson. shane was in austin recording with his old friend from brighton, u.k., johnny aitken, a.k.a., johnny 8-track. i went down to the studio and caught with these two british rascals and had a laugh. my third guest is lucas griffin from the band, southbound drive. southbound drive just put out their first album, "agnes", produced by, chris "frenchy" smith (the darkness, the toadies). lucas came to the apartment and we sat down and i got to know him. great guy, great band. i hope you enjoy these conversations. i did.

new york city, just like i pictured it...
hello folks! so i woke up at 5 a.m. on tuesday and went to h.a.a.m. benefit day. it started with scrappy jud newcombe at whole foods at 6 a.m.! then i saw vallejo, the trishas and carolyn wonderland. all be fore 10 a.m.! ha! crazy. i was hoping to sit down and have some quick conversations with more folks that morning but it was kinda hectic and noisy. i got a chance to sit down with omar vallejo and catch up with him for a few minutes about the new vallejo album and his new studio. check it out!
my main guest for episode 109 is the extremely talented bass/tuba player and super-cool dude, jesse murphy from brazilian girls, california and is currently on tour with joe jackson. i met jesse  a couple of weeks ago when i played a solo show in new york.his band, california headlined the show. caught up with him a couple of days later outside my hotel in midtown. it was great getting to talk to him for a bit. he's a great a guy who's played some amazing folks. he loves playing and i love what he does. i hope you enjoy my conversation with jesse. i did.
